Conditions: Firefighters continued to make good progress, improve containment lines, and aggressively mop-up interior hot spots. The number of damaged and destroyed structures has been updated and increased due to ground based validation by a damage inspection team. The majority of the increase results from minor structures, such as outbuildings, motorhomes, and storage containers.

The evacuation Shelter set up by #AmericaRedCross is set to close at 3 PM today.

 John Anderson announced this morning that evacuations ordered due to the #JunctionFire have been lifted in Oakhurst, and all roads are now open.

 #CALFire crews are still working on the fire. The cause remains under investigation.

Madera County – Sheriff John Anderson is releasing the latest information that is important to the residents affected by the Junction Fire in Oakhurst.

Weather -- Lighting and Rain reported in the foothills of Eastern Madera County

1. Fire Day School Schedule as of August 19, 2014: 
Oakhurst Elementary School: length of closure, 2 days
Oakhurst Intermediate: length of closure, 2 days
Yosemite High School: Length of closure, 2 days
Evergreen High School: Length of closure, 2 days
Bass Lake Unified School District: Length of closure, 2 days

2. Road openings allowed for roughly 400 people to return to their homes. Most of the power lost Monday, due to the fire, has been restored to homes and businesses. 

3. Shelters in Place for Junction Fire victims:
YLP Community Church is now the designated evacuation shelter. The shelter, set up by American Red Cross, is located in Yosemite Lakes Park. The address -- 43840 Patrick Avenue
The Church can hold up to 150 people.
Currently there are 15 people seeking shelter.
Pets are allowed
This is a full service shelter providing food and sleeping is available.

Coarsegold Community Center is now serving as an informational Center to assist CAL Fire in addressing basic questions from the public.

As of this hour, there are no changes in the status of the fire.

At 4 PM Pacific Time Tuesday afternoon CAL Fire reported the following:

Although the potential still exists for critical fire behavior, firefighters continue to make significant progress on the Junction Fire in Oakhurst, California. The fire is now 612 acres and 30% contained.

Repopulation of portions of the community affected by the fire is occurring. The change in acreage is due to more accurate mapping.

Residents should remain cautious of fire personnel and equipment working in the area.
