The Last Weekend of the 2015 Season of Mariposa Evenings –The Free, Live Summer Concert Series brought to you by The Mariposa Co. Arts Council and its many fine sponsors – on the green, at The Art Park in historic, downtown Mariposa, will feature the debut of two unique and eclectic groups: Baraka Moon from San Francisco/Berkeley on Friday, August 28 and The Roger Perry Band on Saturday, August 29.
Baraka Moon
Baraka Moon

The original music of San Francisco’s Baraka Moon is a unique and vibrant mix of Qawaali Sufi Trance Songs, Indian, Middle Eastern and African Drum, Harmonium, Guitar, Percussion and the Aboriginal Austrailian Digeridoo, featuring virtuoso musicians from 3 distinct cultures – USA, Pakistan, and the UK - creating a performance, the likes of which, has never been seen or heard in Mariposa before. This expressive and positive music transcends convention and boundries, inviting audience involvement in singing and dancing along in the unity of our common humanity. You can learn more and sample the music of this very eclectic group at: www.barakamoon.com or their Facebook page.

Roger Perry BandThe Roger Perry Band

The Roger Perry Band has been influenced by disparent music styles such as, rock, blues, real country, reggae, poly-rhythmic jazz and folk, and by various artists – from Leonard Cohen to John Coltrane, Miles Davis to Frank Zappa, and including Elvis and Johnny Cash - make Fresno music icon, Roger Perry, difficult to easily catagorize, but extremely entertaining none the less. With a singing voice that’s been likened to Roy Orbison and the guitar playing skills of Chet Atkins, Perry is a formitable talent on his own, and surrounded by the seasoned professionals – known regionally, nationally, and internationally – that make up his band, should make for an even more powerhouse performance. Learn more about this talented Central Valley/Coast artist at: www.rogerperrymusic.com or his Facebook music page.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. at the Mariposa County Art Park, located on Hwy. 140, between 4th and 5th Streets, in historic downtown Mariposa, CA. Free parking on 5th Street along the Creek Walkway to the Park, also providing handicapped access.
