Fighting FireMariposa Museum & History Center presents a Fireside Chat with guest speaker Marcia Penner Freedman on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. 

Marcia will talk about her book Fighting Fire in the Sierra National Forest and be available for book signing. 

“While fire remains a constant threat, the strategy for combating it has evolved with the understanding of its beneficial role in the forest environment.  Marcia Penner Freedman traces the history of firefighting and fire management from the forest’s early years through the policy shifts that began in the 1960s and the measures used today.”

The Fireside Chat will be at the Mariposa Museum & History Center at 5119 Jessie Street in Mariposa.  

This is a free event open to the public.
