August 26, 2015 - CAL FIRE reports this morning over 9,000 firefighters are battling 16 active wildfires across California. Warmer weather over the past couple of days has hampered containment efforts, although firefighters continue to make progress on many of these fires.
Warm and dry conditions continue today and tomorrow throughout the state, along with gusty winds in portions of the desert and northeastern parts of California. A cooling trend bringing lower temperatures, high humidity and in some areas the chance of rain, is expected to arrive late Friday and into Saturday.
CAL FIRE reminds everyone that the best time to complete your defensible space is in the spring when temperatures are cooler and humidity is higher. But if you need clear dry and dead vegetation near your home, make sure you don’t do the right thing the wrong way. For tips on how to be safe with equipment, visit www.ReadyForWildfire.org.
