Soroptimist Cookbook(Pictured l-r): Soroptimist members President Patricia Wight, Beth Williams, Cookbook Chair Sandy Semtner, Pat Perry and Anita Starchman Bryant, with the “Favorite Recipes” cookbook by Soroptimist International of Mariposa featuring a watercolor painting of 1926 Mariposa by local artist Juanita Smith.

Soroptimist International of Mariposa is announcing the arrival of its new, one-of-a-kind cookbook, “Favorite Recipes.”  The cookbooks are just $15 and are available for purchase at Happy Burger Diner, Starchman & Bryant Law Offices, or from any Soroptimist member.  Printed by Morris Press Cookbooks of Kearney, Nebraska, the sale of these three-ring-binder cookbooks will benefit local service organization Soroptimist International of Mariposa.  Current and former members of Soroptimist, friends, and family have compiled their tastiest tried-and-true recipes into a single book that will be treasured for generations to come.  This mouth-watering cookbook contains recipes from appetizers to desserts and everything in-between.  Each recipe includes the contributor’s name, so it’s easy to find the recipes of friends and loved ones.  A special feature is the cookbook cover illustration of the town of Mariposa as it appeared in about 1926.  The cover is from an original watercolor researched and painted by Juanita Smith, a local Mariposa artist.

Soroptimist is a global volunteer organization working to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.  In addition to participating in international projects, the Mariposa Club achieves this mission locally by giving scholarships to graduating seniors, presenting monetary awards to women that are the heads of their households seeking further education, sponsoring The Elegant Dress Closet, and donating funds to organizations such as Manna House, a non-profit organization that provides emergency food to all in need and the Mountain Crisis Safe House for victims of domestic violence.
