October 9, 2015 - WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) released the following statement in reaction to today’s federal court ruling forcing the EPA to stop implementation of their proposed “Waters of the U.S.” rule:

“Today’s ruling is a huge victory for farmers, ranchers and landowners all across the country. The EPA’s move to regulate every stream, creek and puddle on private property is a clear attempt at bureaucratic overreach. Under the EPA’s proposed rule, almost all waters could be subject to regulation by the agency regardless of size or continuity of flow. More government intrusion is the last thing our agricultural community needs.”

Rep. Denham has repeatedly voted for proposals prohibiting and reigning in the proposed rule, including the Regulatory Integrity Protection Act, H.R. 1732, which passed the House in May of 2015, and the Waters of the United States Regulatory Overreach Protection Act, H.R. 5078, which passed the House in September of 2014.
