October 23, 2015 - Washington, D.C. -U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) today responded to House Speaker John Boehner's announcement of the Republican members of a new Select Committee aimed at attacking Planned
Parenthood, which provides life-saving health care to 2.7 million women and men:"The Republicans must be tone-deaf to announce today the anti-choice members of their new witch hunt against Planned Parenthood. This follows five hours of brutal questioning of Cecile Richards, the President of Planned Parenthood, last month, and 11 hours of brutal questioning directed at Hillary Clinton on Benghazi, which, in their own Majority Leader's admission, was nothing more than a political attack."
"Just like the Benghazi Committee, this committee has been designed for partisan political purposes. That is why it is stacked with extreme Republicans who would deny women critical care even when their health is at risk. It's time to end these taxpayer-funded political witch hunts."
All the GOP members of the new Select Committee have already voted to defund Planned Parenthood, have voted for unconstitutional abortion bans that include no health exception, and have zero ratings from leading women's health groups.
