Yosemite National Park and The Ansel Adams Gallery sponsored a Gateway Expressions Student Art and Poetry Contest in September. They received over 250 submissions, a record number, from local community schools including Sierra Foothill Charter School.

Artwork was divided into categories and winning pieces were selected by park staff and park partners.  SFCS had a number of winners in the Art portion of the contest: Ava Walker, Anna Soldevia, Celianna Lee, Bianca Rios, and Emilee Cordero. image7Ava Walker, Anna Soldevia, Celianna Lee, and Bianco Rios stand at SFCS with their winning art pieces. Winning student artwork and poetry was featured in an exhibit at The Ansel Adams Gallery November 5 through November 7. Additionally, students were acknowledged at a special Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 7, 2015, at The Ansel Adams Gallery in Yosemite Valley.

Congratulations to all the students who entered and those who won. What fabulous art and poetry! And thanks to Yosemite National Park and the Ansel Adams Gallery for sponsoring the Gateway Expressions Student Art and Poetry Contest!
