March 22, 2024 - El Dorado County Sheriff's Office officials report that on March 21, 2024, around 10:51 A.M., an EDSO Deputy attempted to pull over a vehicle that was driving recklessly on Highway 50 near Elks Club Drive in South Lake Tahoe. The driver of the vehicle attempted to abscond from EDSO and hide his vehicle behind a local business. After attempting to hide his vehicle the driver ran through the snow into the forested area attempting to flee from the Deputy.

With the assistance of Officers from the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, Officers from the California Highway Patrol and the fleeing driver’s footprints in the snow and mud, the driver of the vehicle was located hiding in an outcropping of boulders and taken safely into custody. The driver and solo occupant of the vehicle was identified as Jason Freed, 50 years old, of South Lake Tahoe. Mr. Freed was arrested for the following criminal acts: 23152(A) CVC, 23152(B) CVC, 1203.2(A) PC, 148(A)(1) PC, 12500(A) VC, and 23102(a) CVC. Mr. Freed is being held on $10,000.00 bail.
