February 13, 2016 - The Merced Police Department reports on Thursday February 11, 2016 during the evening hours the Merced Police Department’s Gang Violence Suppression Unit (GVSU) developed information of gang activity in the unit block alley of W. 23rd St. 

GVSU officers responded to the alley and saw 2 subjects run into an apartment when police vehicles arrived on scene. Officers contacted subjects at the apartment and saw several gang members inside the home. Officers entered the home and arrested Eric Lee, 24, for a warrant. Officers then contacted Joseph White, 21, who is a gang member and on parole.

Officers conducted a parole search of the apartment and located rock cocaine, ammunition and a loaded 45 caliber handgun. 

Joseph White was arrested and booked at the jail for possession of cocaine, felon in possession of a loaded firearm, felon in possession ammunition, gang enhancements and parole violation.

Merced Police are asking anyone with any information regarding this crime to contact GVSU Sgt. Rodriguez at (209) 385-4710, or the Merced Police Department Tipster Line at (209) 385-4725.
