A large crowd of family and friends came to Sierra Foothill Charter School on Friday evening, April 30, to enjoy delicious chilis, cornbreads, and family activities. The annual Chili Cook Off was a big success and a lot of fun.
SFCS 0418The cornhole boards that the eighth graders made turned out great and many enjoyed playing the bean bag game, including students Conner Eastwood and Sayer Harry.
SFCS 0448SFCS friend and community member Andrew Gliken gets a dose of pesto flavored sour cream on his serving of chili, delivered by student Devon Foster. Devon's mom, Talia, won first place for best chili.
SFCS 0455The fantastic prizes included spa, dinner, dessert, and drinks for two at the Yosemite Bug and Mountain Resort; two Island Water Park day passes; two $25 Savoury’s gift certificates; a Happy Burger gift certificate and t-shirt; a pack of four movie passes and basket of goodies to enjoy at a movie donated by Catheys Valley Real Estate; and a cast iron skillet with wooden spoon set also donated by Catheys Valley Real Estate. Thanks to our amazingly supportive community for such great donations.

SFCS 0460Natalee Marundee, here with her dad, Paul, was the happy attendee who won a raffle prize of a $20 gift certificate to Jantz Bakery donated by third and fourth grade teacher Teena Starchman.

After dinner activities included games of tossing bean bags into the corn hole boards, playing ball out on the field, and picking out a free book or two to take home.

Andrea Contreras and her seventh and eighth graders who hosted the event are most grateful for the support of SFCS families and friends in making this such a successful event. Proceeds will benefit their classroom.
