Update: 7:26 A.M. Missing Hiker Found
The search for Nick Goldman came to a successful end late last night.
Search & Rescue crews found him near the Quartz Mountain Trailhead. He is in stable condition. Due to pitch black darkness, volunteers stayed the night with Goldman and extracted him from the location at first light this morning.
He is being transported to an area hospital.
Sheriff John Anderson launched a search for the 76-year old North Fork man (yesterday) after he failed to return from a cross-country hike to Chiquita Lake in the Sierra National Forest.

September 10, 2014 - Madera County – Sheriff John Anderson has launched a search for a 76-year old North Fork man who failed to return from a cross-country hike to Chiquito Lake in the Sierra National Forest.

Jack-GoldmanCalifornia Highway Patrol is providing air support in the search, and just located Golden’s vehicle, parked near the Chiquito Lake Trailhead.

Jack Goldman planned to hike cross-country to Chiquito Lake – elevation 8,000 feet, and return last night. 

The missing hiker is known to family and friends as Nick Goldman.

He was last seen wearing khaki colored pants, a fishing hat, and carrying a brownish tan backpack.

More information to be released when made available. Meantime, anyone with information about the overdue hiker can call the Madera County Sheriff’s Office at 559-675-7770.
