On a Saturday morning that was filled with bright sunshine the Veterans of Foreign Wars Color Guard led a parade that began at the VFW Post at the intersection of Highway 140 and Highway 49 North.

The Mariposa High School Grizzly Band played as the parade headed North on Highway 49 to Joe Howard Road. Turning left on Joe Howard Road the parade climbed the short hill leading to the cemetery. As the people were sitting down the band was playing patriotic music. Multiple speakers were on hand for the ceremony that involved the laying of wreaths by different organizations. After the VFW Color Guard performed their 21 gun salute, Taps began to be played on this emotional filled morning.

As the ceremony was coming to a close the high school band began playing "When Johnny Comes Marching Home."
