May 31, 2016 - The Mariposa Public Utilities District Fire Department reports on Monday evening, May 30, 2016 at approximately 6:45 p.m., a fire was reported in the Coakley Circle apartment complex.
Fire units were dispatched at 6:49 p.m.
The quick actions by an arriving Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office deputy, using his fire extinguisher, prevented the fire from spreading. A co-operative response of CalFire, MPUD Fire and Mariposa County Fire, resulted in quick control and minimized the damage to the apartment of origin.
Key factors were a functioning smoke detector which alerted the occupants, who safely left the apartment, the quick use of the 911 system, and multiple agency co-operation.
