With the expertise and guidance of staff member Cate Cannon, Andrea Contreras' seventh and eighth grade students at Sierra Foothill Charter School staged an excellent abbreviated production of Lewis Carroll's "Alice in Wonderland" on Tuesday, June 7, 2016. The student performances were well done and the staging and props were extremely clever.
SFCS 0116Alice (far right, Jacqueline Telles-Trujillo) attends the Mad Hatter's tea party (Skylee Bond second from left), also attended by the March Hare (Bradlee Teixeira, left) and the Dormouse (Christine Bittis, third from left).
SFCS 0113Alice (right, Jacqueline Telles-Trujillo) meets the Pigeon (left, Jaden DuBois), a Wonderland creature who believes Alice is a serpent. The pigeon is sulky and angry and thinks Alice is after her eggs.
SFCS 0120Alice meets the Queen of Hearts (Marilyn Kleiman-Moore) who is continually calling for her subjects to lose their heads; the King of Hearts (Trevor McClard) who is ineffectual but less ruthless and typically undoes his wife's commands; and the Playing Cards (Christine Bittis and Mikey Owens) who do what the Queen commands.
SFCS 0124Alice suddenly grows larger and larger during her trial (from left: Colton Hopman and Daniela Ortiz-Garagarza, narrators; Christine Bittis, Playing Card; Trevor McClard, Kind of Hearts; Jaqueline Telles-Trujillo, Alice; Marilyn Kleiman-Moore, Queen of Hearts; Jaden DuBois, Playing Card).
