SUMMERTIME BREAKFAST
It’s Hot Outside!  Don’t turn your stove on Sunday morning!  Instead, mosey on over to the Coulterville Schoolhouse and enjoy the NMCHC Community Breakfast on Sunday, August 14th. Breakfast is served by our great group of volunteers from 8 a.m. ‘till 11 a.m. and includes eggs cooked to order, fresh fruit, all-you-can-eat pancakes and a choice of ham or sausage…all and still for just $5.  A family package (2 adults/2 children costs just $15.  Whether this is the first time you’ve visited the Coulterville Community breakfast or are a “regular”, be sure and come on by… everyone is welcome!

This monthly breakfast continues to be an important fund raising activity for the Northern Mariposa County History Center. It helps keep the doors of this private, volunteer run, nonprofit museum open 5 days a week, Wednesdays through Sundays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., for 11 months of the year, February through December. Thank you to the many generous donors who contribute such great items to be raffled off every month! In fact, if any of you have something tucked away in a closet, perhaps a gift that didn’t fit in your home or something you’ve won but cannot use, “re-gift” it to the NMCHC for their monthly raffle.  And, if you would like to do something proactive for your community, a few more volunteers are still needed to help fill out slots when someone cannot make it.  Just call (209) 878-3015 and leave your name and number.

DOCENT TRAINING and LUNCHEON
There will be a Summer Celebration and Docent training for all docents on Tuesday, August 23rd.  This is for both current volunteers and those just coming aboard.  It is a perfect time for those of you “thinking about it” to get involved!  If you are interested to learn more about becoming a docent, just a 3-hour monthly commitment, call the museum at (209) 878-3015 or email info@coultervillehistorycenter.org.

2016 CoyoteFest adCoyoteFest FAST APPROACHING!
Less than two months before the big event!  Now is the time to climb on board and commit… to being a sponsor, participating in the parade or car show, donating something for the Greely Hill School raffle, or reserving a booth!  Posters are appearing throughout the region, local papers will be sporting advertisements encouraging folks to come on out.  For, not only is this the largest and most fun event of the year in Coulterville, it is, after all a fund-raiser!  The various fees and sponsorship funds raised not only cover the costs associated with the event, including the cash prizes and awards, but also help the various non-profits involved with a variety of community projects.

One such project made possible by funds raised from last year’s CoyoteFest, along with some generous member donations, is a reprint of a long out of print book, the Coulterville Chronicle!  This wonderful book, written by Catherine Coffin Phillips, is a highly readable history of the gold rush era, filled with recollections garnered from interviews with many of the pioneering families.

Initially printed in 1942, thirty-six years later a 2nd edition was reprinted in 1978.  It’s taken another 38 years before the NMCHC was able to garner sufficient funds for a third edition.  Copies will be available at the NMCHC booth at this year’s CoyoteFest!  Thank you to everyone that made it possible to reprint this priceless story.  If you don’t have an older edition on your bookshelf, be sure and pick up a copy of this hot-off-the-press new edition that day.
