9 11 Memorial

September 7, 2016 - The Mariposa County Sheriff Department will hold a Mariposa County 9/11 Memorial Ceremony at the Art Park in Mariposa on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:00 P.M.

At 1:00 P.M. all are welcome to join our Veterans and 22 Too Many, a Veteran health support group, at the Mariposa VFW to walk from the VFW to the Mariposa 9-11 Memorial to meet for the 9-11 Ceremony. 22 Too Many is a group that supports our Veterans and brings awareness of challenges that our Vets are facing, including the 22 Veteran suicides that are occurring every day. We invite the public to walk the distance with the local ‘22 Too Many’ group, organized by Army Staff Sgt. Bryce Battershell.

Also, our VFW Post 9454 and Auxiliary will be hosting the 9/11 Honor Our Fallen Hero’s at the Coulterville Park at 7:00 p.m. After a short presentation the group will participate in a candlelight walk down Main Street. Ice cream and cupcakes following. Everyone is welcome.

Also the Sheriff Honor Guard will raise the new 9-11 flag and the Fire Bell Ceremony will conclude the event.
