Central California Women’s Facility, Valley State Prison sign mutual aid agreement

October 17, 2016 - By Lt. Michael Dunn, AA/Public Information Officer, Central California Women’s Facility - When the Mariposa County Sheriff Office (MCSO) took aim at an illegal marijuana operation, the agency called on the help of CDCR’s Crisis Response Team (CRT).

On Sept. 1, the sheriff’s office reached out to the CRT from the Central California Women’s Facility and Valley State Prison requesting assistance in serving a high-risk arrest and search warrant. They needed a large response to search a 1.5-acre compound with multiple outlying buildings.

On Sept. 6, the CRT entered into a mutual aid agreement with the sheriff’s office, marking the first time the two-prison CRT established an agreement with an outside law enforcement agency.

On Sept. 7, six sheriff’s deputies, 20 CRT operators, one Madera County Probation officer and two CDCR special agents were briefed on the operation.

One man was arrested and the teams found 17 mature 10-foot-tall marijuana plants and some methamphetamine, worth approximately $75,000.
