Celebrate Christmas in Coulterville
Saturday, December 17th

Come Early…Stay Late…Have Fun!

Breakfast at the IOOF, Santa Clause gift give-a-way at the fire house, the CCC’s Holiday Dinner at the old schoolhouse, story telling back at the IOOF and holiday shopping at the local stores and at NMCHC’s Christmas Bazaar makes a really fun and full day on Saturday, December 17!

The Rebekahs will be serving up breakfast, the Coulterville Fire Brigade coordinates with the North Pole so that Santa and his magical bag of never ending gifts arrives in town at noon for a nice long stop at the Firehouse and the Coulterville Community Club will be coordinating the Holiday feast taking place at the Old Schoolhouse.  The Trading Post, Sierra Flowers and Coulter Cafe are chock full of fabulous Holiday merchandise and the museum is featuring both a special “Kids (only) Shopping Cart”…where kids can find inexpensive gifts to give to their entire family... as well as fabulous hand crafted items at their Holiday Bazaar.

The Rebekah Pancake Breakfast can be enjoyed from 8 - 11 a.m. It’s just $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children with a family package (2 adults/2 children} costing just $15.  Proceeds will be used to help the Odd Fellows save their historic lodge.

Santa arrives in style at 12 noon, with a fire engine meeting his sleigh just east of town where there’s plenty of space for the reindeer to relax.  He will be traveling down Main Street to the firehouse where he will be visiting with children, posing with them for memorable family photos, finding out if they’ve been good or bad, and sending them off with an early present.  There will be lots of cookies, hot chocolate and other refreshments for everyone while waiting their turn.

The Free Community Dinner will start at 12:30 p.m., with volunteers serving up meals ‘till 3:30 p.m. or the food runs out!  Please remember, there will be no “go” meals until the close of the event unless they are prearranged.

The CCC still needs more cooked turkeys and hams as well as desserts, and could certainly use a few more volunteers to either help serve or to set-up and/or clean-up!  It is a terrific way for those who have no local family to enjoy some holiday spirit…pull out the favorite cookie or pie recipe you haven’t made in so long or come on down and help with the event!!  Helping out is also a great way for parents to show their pre-teen and teenage children what the holiday spirit of giving is really about!  Call Dale Silverman at 209-878-3015 or email her at dalemmr@yahoo.com and let her know what you plan on donating and/or if you are able to either cook something in advance that someone else has donated or want to help the day of the event.  We really need each and every one of you to help make this a great community event!

Christmas Story Telling at the IOOF is scheduled at 2:00 p.m.  Debbie Cook will be sharing a new story about a coyote that visits on Christmas Eve looking for some people to trick out of a hot meal. He knows there’s one character people can’t refuse on Christmas Eve: Santa Claus!  Come enjoy some hot chocolate and cookies and hear how the story ends.
