September 21, 2014 - August 2014 visitors to Yosemite National Park by auto rises 19.6% from August 2013.


2013 visitation numbers were affected by the Rim Fire that burned into the park. 2014 visitation numbers could also be affected by fires in the areas surrounding the park.

 The Arch Rock Entrance Station (Mariposa -Highway 140) had a decrease of visitors by auto of 11.4% compared to August 2013. Year to date numbers show a decrease of visitors by auto of .6%

 The Big Oak Flat Entrance Station (Groveland - Highway 120) had a increase of visitors by auto of 159.6% compared to August 2013. Year to date numbers show a increase of visitors by auto of 12.1%


 The South Entrance (Oakhurst - Highway 41) had a decrease of visitors by auto of 3.5% compared to August 2013. Year to date numbers show a increase of visitors by auto of 1.6%

 The total  visitors  by auto to Yosemite National Park for August 2014 was up by 19.6% compared to August 2013. Year to date numbers show a increase of visitors by auto of 4.4%

 Park Staff Notes for August:
Crane Flat campground reopened after fire closed it in July on August 8th. 

Yosemite Creek reopened from the same fire closure on 8/16. 

Bridalveil Creek campground reopened after being used as a fire camp on 8/4.
