Coulterville’s Museum Back Open for 2017

Gala Reopening
The Northern Mariposa County History Center held its annual Gala on February 4, 2017 celebrating the reopening of the museum after being closed a month for cleaning and refreshing displays.  The skies parted for a few hours, so that we had a wonderful turnout.  Good food, good drinks, and great company with plenty of time for visiting, snacking and touring the museum.  And, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, the museum’s coffers have increased by nearly $4,000, which will help defray operating expenses.

Committee chair, Cathy Partan, thanks everyone who helped to make this event a success.  Museum docents prepared the sweet and savory snacks, Indigeny Reserve donated both apple and berry hard cider, and Due Ragazze Vineyards’ co-owner, Jack Cardoza, was on hand to pour wine for the museum’s guests.

There are many new, interesting exhibits in the museum, including a display featuring the family of Jim Wagner, early day settlers in Coulterville.

The museum then reopened on February 9th to the public.  This year the history center’s hours of operation will be Thursday through Sunday from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. plus most long holiday weekends. These additional days for the remainder of 2017 include Memorial Day, Monday, May 29th; both Monday, July 3rd and Tuesday, July 4th on Independence Day weekend and Labor Day, Monday, September 4th.  We hope to see you there!
