SFCS 2030

SFCS 2587 2Mariposa Safe Families is helping to make Sierra Foothill Charter School even more safe and supportive. Starting in February, Prevention Specialist Jessica Briese has been teaching one lesson per week for six weeks from the Second Step Child Protection curriculum to students in grades TK-4. In the Second Step unit, students learn three types of safety: personal safety, touching safety, and assertiveness. Parents and guardians were provided an opportunity to review the curriculum and ask questions at an information night back in January.

In her first lesson, Ms. Jessica talked about safety. She read several different scenarios and had students put a thumb up if the child was making a safe choice or a thumb down if the child was making an unsafe choice. At the end, students learned a new safety song.

Sierra Foothill Charter School is a free, non-profit, TK-8 public school. Open Enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year is happening now through April 12.
