Update: 3:50 P.M.
At 348 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a line of strong thunderstorms 13 miles north of Chowchilla, or 16 miles east of Merced, moving northeast at 35 mph. Half inch hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm. Thunderstorms are capable of producing tornadoes, be aware of your surroundings.

Be sure to report any severe weather to law enforcement or National Weather Service.

Locations impacted include... Chowchilla, Bootjack, Mariposa, Planada, Catheys Valley, Le Grand, Gin Flat and Crane Flat.

UNTIL 345 PM PDT...

At 258 PM PDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Chowchilla, or 12 miles southeast of Merced, moving east northeast at 30 mph. Dime size hail and winds in excess of 30 mph will be possible with this storm.

Locations impacted include... Merced, Chowchilla, Planada and Le Grand.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
