Tony Krizan, local adventurer, author & photographer will share his 30 plus years of hiking experiences in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at the Mariposa Museum & History Center Fireside Chat on Sunday, April 23, 2017. The talk will begin at 2:00 p.m. This adventure starts with the “Great Sierra Mines” and ends with the mines along Lake Canyon or the “Lundy Mine” area. We’ll travel back in time and visit those areas around Tioga Pass Road from the 1860’s. The Great Sierra Mines (Dana City) generated more than $ 300,000 dollars in gold and silver, which was just a small portion of this gold bearing area.
For an added bonus; the climbing of three separate peaks, one named Mount Dana which exceeds 13,000 feet, will be introduced in pictures.
