April 21, 2017 - The Mariposa County March 2017 unemployment rate of 7.8% was lower than the March 2016 unemployment rate by 1.5% when the rate was 9.3%. During March 2017, 550 residents were unemployed. 120 less residents (-17.9%) from March 2016 when 670 residents were unemployed. 
   
The Leisure and Hospitality industry with 1,560 workers during March 2017 employed 30 fewer workers (-1.9%) than during February 2017 when 1,590 workers were in the industry. Compared to March 2016 the Leisure and Hospitality industry employed 180 additional workers (13.0%) when the industry employed 1,380 workers. 
   
The Government employed 40 additional employees (2.2%) in March 2017 (1,850) compared to March 2016 when 1,810 were employed
   
Construction employment had 140 employees in March 2017.The same number of employees as March 2016.
 
Private Service Providing - Residua
l (retail/wholesale trade, transportation, and utilities) experienced 130 fewer employees (-52.0%) in March 2017 (120 employees) compared to March 2016 with 250 employees.
 

The Civilian Labor Force came in at 7,040 during March 2017. The Labor Force decreased by 120 (-1.7%) from March 2016 when the Labor Force was at 7,160.
   
There were 6,490 employees in the county during March 2017. The same number of employees as March 2016
