The Mariposa County High School Grizzly Band’s 7th Annual Band Marathon will be held at the Mariposa Museum and History Center in conjunction with the museum’s annual docent fair on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

The marathon will kick-off at 9 a.m. with the Grizzly Band, followed by several local musical groups and the Mariposa County Elementary and Middle School student bands.  Refreshments and baked goods will be available for purchase at the event. All proceeds raised at the band marathon will be used to support the Mariposa County School District music programs.

The docent fair is a time for the public to come to the museum to see all of its venues open and operating and to see what it takes to become a volunteer.  The museum is always in need of volunteer help. Duties range from maintenance of the museum grounds to being a guide for school tours.  Along with prospective docents, current docents are welcome to come and explore new volunteer opportunities.  The docent fair is intended for docents to be the visitor and see the displays, buildings and hidden secrets of the museum.  The historic five-stamp mill will be run a few times during the day.

The primary goal is to attract more volunteers for the Mariposa Museum and History Center, however anyone who has an interest in Mariposa’s past is welcome to attend.

The museum is located at 5119 Jessie Street in Mariposa and will be open from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.  Please contact the Mariposa Museum and History Center for more information.  Call (209) 966-2924, or email mmhc@sti.net.
