The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office collected 302 pounds of unneeded and unwanted prescription medications during September 27th’s Drug Take Back Day.

The Sheriff’s Office staffed three locations around the county to collect unwanted script drugs. At the end of the day, a total of 302 pounds of unwanted drugs had been turned in.

Mariposa County Sheriff Doug Binnewies said, “When you look at this as possibly taking 302 pounds of script meds out of circulation, that could get into the hands of children or addicts, this is a really good program. We are glad to partner with the DEA and continue this public safety program to better our communities.”
