The Mariposa County Arts Council is pleased to host ceramic artist and Marine Corps veteran, Ehren Tool (pictured above), who will give a free presentation and demonstration at the Mariposa Yosemite Rotary Art and Wine Festival on Saturday, May 27 at 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. on the Courthouse lawn, 5088 Bullion Street, Mariposa.

Over his career, Ehren Tool has created over 20,000 ceramic cups featuring images that address a wide spectrum of issues and concerns facing veterans and service people. Currently, 200 of these cups are installed in an exhibition entitled, Hand-to-Hand, at the Mariposa County Arts Council’s Treetop Gallery. For this local installation of Tool’s work, Mariposa veterans submitted photographs, thoughts, and images of personal artifacts which Tool fired onto cups and incorporated throughout the installation.

The Mariposa County Arts Council encourages local veterans and families to bring photographs, images, or other artifact to share with Tool, who will incorporate them into ceramic cups made during the Rotary’s Art and Wine Festival.
MCAC DSCF1598 The complete installation, Hand-to-Hand, can currently be seen at the Arts Council’s Treetop Gallery, upstairs of Chocolate Soup in downtown Mariposa, through July 16.

This program is made possible by the California Arts Council Veterans Initiative in the Arts Program.

The Mariposa County Arts Council is funded in part by the County of Mariposa, the California Arts Council (a state agency), and the National Endowment for the Arts (a federal agency).

The MARIPOSA COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL, INC. is an incorporated non-profit organization, created to promote and support all forms of the cultural arts, for all ages, throughout Mariposa County.
