Shelley Crist decided to do something she has always wanted to do. Seeing the need in Mariposa for a nursery she has established Gardener's Eden Nursery at
Shelley is a former Master Gardener and has plenty of experience on what will grow in
Among the over 2,000 potted plants that are in quarts to five gallons containers that can be purchased are deer resistant plants such as lavender and salvia available. Although as one knows, when a deer gets real hungry they will eat almost anything. The cooler season plants will be brought in later around September.

Next up in the business is opening a garden shop that will carry topiaries, books, garden supplies and more. For the little ones that visit Gardener's Eden there are miniature horses to pet. Eventually there will be classes for painting bird houses and making mosaics, things that Shelley learned as a 4-H teacher.
When Shelley eventually gets the greenhouses installed she will be growing heirloom tomatoes among other vegetables with compost that will be produced on site.
Shelley moved to Mariposa with her husband eight years ago and has four children, one who will be helping Shelley with the growing business.
