 Stanley Cup Comes To Mariposa On Friday, July 1
 
 The Mariposa County Grand Jury for 2010-2011 investigates Auditor complaint
 
In releasing the Final Grand Jury Report for 2010-2011 the Grand Jury looked into the Social Security miscalculation that surfaced in 2010. This finding resulted in thousands of dollars being paid to the U.S. government by the affected employees.

Kristin Olsen mentioned that she concentrates on three areas, Government Reform, Job Creation and Local Control, that until changes are made in the way we do business in California we will not see economic revitalization in the State. She said the State has no economic strategy or goal. Supervisor Kevin Cann mentions that Mariposa County has just renegotiated a second tier retirement with all its labor groups. He said that ten to fifteen years down the road the effect of this will be huge.
 
 Catheys Valley Community Plan on Hold as Funding Dollars Wither Away (With Audio)
 
At the June 28, 2011 Mariposa County Board of Supervisors (BOS) Meeting the BOS considered providing an additional $28,800 to Hauge Brueck Associates for further work on the Catheys Valley Community Plan as this request was put on the agenda as a Consent item. With Supervisor Stetson making a motion to approve the funding but then no second the motion died and will come back before the BOS during the budget hearings. Kris Schenk agrees with Supervisor Bibby that the plan is at a similar point in the process now as it was back in June 2009. During this time Rita Kidd was raising her hand as she was trying to speak on the subject that was before the BOS. Chairman Allen noted that the Consent Agenda Items time for public comment was earlier in the day. Supervisor Stetson listens to County Counsel Steve Dahlem on the rules about public comment. Mr. Dahlem mentions that the Chairman could open it up for public comment if he wanted to.
 
 CalTrans Up-date On the Ferguson Rock Slide - July 12, 2011 (With Audio)
 CalTrans had a presentation on the Ferguson Rock Slide at the Tuesday, July 12, 2011 Mariposa County Board of Supervisor meeting. CalTrans seems to be leaning towards building either the rock shed or the tunnel as they are submitting paperwork that has to do with the salamander that lives on the south side of the Merced River. Whichever plan that is finally decided on they anticipate the project to be completed by Spring 2017.
 
 Marsden Receives Golden Apple Award
 The Mariposa County Arts Council congratulates Les Marsden, Mariposa Symphony Orchestra Founder/Conductor, on being awarded the "Golden Apple Award". The Golden Apple is an annual award from the Mariposa-Madera County Charter of the Association of Calif. School Administrators. Marsden was honored for his "dedication and commitment to the Mariposa County Unified School District" after being nominated by the Mariposa County Unified School District.
