Mariposa County Board of Supervisors (BOS) Budget Talks Highlights for Thursday, August 18, 2011 on the 2011-2012 Budget
Supervisor Cann mentioned that revenue in the county is up. TOT came in around $300K more that last year. Sales Taxes are also up. Secured Property Taxes are down about $87K along with Supplemental, Unsecured and Delinquent taxes. Supervisor Allen is concerned about employees retiring then are rehired for a period of time but then can collect unemployment and that raises the amount of money the county has to pay to unemployment. So far it does not look like furloughs are going to happen, but things can change. Supervisor Allen mentioned that it is his goal for the Tuesday meeting to not have any furloughs. It looks like multiple employees will be let go and positions that are currently not filled may stay that way, all put on the white board.

These will be two separate RFP's.  No Furloughs will be enacted. The Arts Council, Yosemite Renaissance, North Side History Center were all funded. Although Supervisor Stetson was for funding the $5,000 to the Rural Media Arts it failed to win support of the rest of the BOS. $30,000 was approved for the Townsend Group and $6,000 for the eCivis software program. Tourism was fully funded at $500,000.
