Congressman Jeff Denham Announces Valley Flag Day Photo Competition

June 14, 2012 - WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) today announced that he is holding a Valley Flag Day photo contest in honor of Flag Day – a day which commemorates the adoption of the American flag by the Second Continental Congress in 1777. “To celebrate the beauty and diversity of California’s Central Valley, and as a fitting opportunity to pause for a moment and reflect on the meaning of our Nation’s flag, I am holding a contest on Facebook to choose a winning photograph that best reflects the rich heritage that the American flag represents flying proudly across our district as a sign of our shared legacy,” said Denham. “I encourage you to share your patriotism by sending us your favorite photo of the American Flag.”

The contest starts immediately and the deadline for all entries will be Sunday, June 17, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. On Monday, the photos will be uploaded onto Rep. Denham’s Facebook page, http://facebook.com/RepJeffDenham, where viewers can vote on the winning photographs by “liking” their favorite American Flag photo. All emailed submissions must include the entrant’s name, phone number and home address, as well as a brief description of the image.
