Congressman Jeff Denham’s Statement on Fourth of July Holiday

July 3, 2012 - WASHINGTON, DC — U.S. Representative Jeff Denham (R-Turlock) released the following video statement in honor of the Fourth of July holiday:
“This Fourth of July, friends and families all over the country will gather to celebrate our nation’s independence. As we know all too well, freedom is not free. I hope you will join me in celebrating the victory and valor of our armed forces, past and present. America would not be what it is today without the heroism and sacrifice of our brave servicemen and women.
“As a fellow veteran, I’m working to make sure our soldiers, veterans and their families are well taken care of. I’m happy to announce that last week my bill, the Veteran Skills to Jobs Act, was passed out of full committees in both the House and the Senate with unanimous bipartisan support. This bill will help our returning veterans get back to work more quickly by removing bureaucratic red-tape and allowing them to use the skills they acquired through military training to get jobs here at home. As your representative, it’s my top priority in this tough economy to ensure that Valley residents and our veterans have the employment opportunities they need in this tough economy.
“As we prepare to celebrate this week, let’s remember that our nation was built on sacrifice, hard work and the anticipation of a better tomorrow. Americans have never sat on the sidelines of liberty, and we will continue to be a beacon of hope and freedom around the world.
“I wish you and your families a very happy and safe Independence Day.”
