Mariposa Weather for Friday, July 3, 2015
Mostly sunny and very warm today with a high temp of around 94 degrees for Mariposa while the low tonight comes in at 69 degrees. Yosemite/Sierra has a 30% chance of showers/T-storms today. Yesterday's high temp topped out at 93.4 degrees, 3.9 degrees cooler than Wednesday. The afternoon humidity level came in at 25% yesterday (15% higher than Wednesday). The low temp yesterday came in at 70.9 degrees. Drips and drops of rain yesterday but not enough to trip the SST rain gauge. Saturday/Sunday will be very warm in Mariposa as the high temp is forecast at 93 degrees with mostly sunny skies. A chance of afternoon/evening showers/T-storms continue through Sunday for Yosemite/Sierra.

President Obama to Award the Medal of Honor to Two World War I Soldiers

May 26, 2015 - WASHINGTON, DC – On the morning of Tuesday, June 2, 2015, President Barack Obama will award the Medal of Honor to Army Sergeant William Shemin and to Army Private Henry Johnson for conspicuous obama official photogallantry during World War I. 

Sergeant William Shemin will receive the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions while serving as a member of Company G, 2nd Battalion, 47th Infantry Regiment, 4th Division, American Expeditionary Forces.  Sergeant Shemin distinguished himself during combat operations in the vicinity of the Vesle River, Bazoches, France, on August 7-9, 1918. 

Private Henry Johnson will receive the Medal of Honor posthumously for his actions while serving as a member of Company C, 369th Infantry Regiment, 93rd Division, American Expeditionary Forces. Then-Private Johnson distinguished himself during combat operations in the vicinity of the Tourbe and Aisne Rivers, northwest of Saint Menehoul, France, on May 15, 1918.
