February 22, 2017 - The following request for information is from the CHP Mariposa office:

Good morning, all.  I am hoping you can help me with a problem we had last night.

We are seeking assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for multiple instances of vandalism which occurred at the fairgrounds last night.  Someone slashed the tires of four different cars, with a total of five tires being damaged.  The vandalisms took place in the front parking lot of the fairgrounds, likely between 6:00pm and 8:30pm.  The victims were attendees at Congressman McClintock’s Town Hall meeting, and all of the victims were residents of Mariposa County.  

Several attendees were filming various parts of the event, including activities in the parking lot before, during, and after the meeting.  It is our hope someone captured something on film, which we can use to identify the perpetrator(s). 

"We are deeply troubled that this happened here.  This is not how democracy works.  Aside from the fact that this is both legally and morally wrong, it is also a cowardly thing to do.  To the guilty person(s), even if you do not agree with some of the people who attended the meeting, at least they had the guts to stand up, show their faces, and speak their minds in an open forum.  That is far better than sneaking around in the dark, destroying personal property.  We will exhaust every effort to locate the perpetrator(s) and hold them accountable for this,"said Lieutenant Becky Hagen CHP Mariposa Area Commander. "Toward that end, we are asking that anyone with any information that can help with our investigation, contact the Mariposa Area CHP office at (209) 966-3656."
