I just about had a stroke when I saw Lee Stetson’s full page ad on page B-5 of the April 15th edition of the Mariposa Gazette. The banner at the top says, “Stetson District 1 Supervisor.” He is NOT my supervisor! If it is not illegal to call yourself the incumbent candidate, then it certainly should be. It is as though Mr. Stetson is pretending that Brad Aborn didn’t defeat him in the last election.
Then Mr. Stetson goes on to say that the letters sent to The Gazette were orchestrated by a small group of recruits. Oh really! On March 21, I sent a letter reminding voters of your dangerous mismanagement to both the Gazette and the Sun. (The Gazette did not run the letter, but the Sierra Sun Times did.) Mr. Aborn did NOT ask me to write it. I was not given a list of talking points. I have never attended a meeting to reelect Mr. Aborn. And until today, I had not contributed a dime to his reelection. My letter came straight from my mind, my heart and most of all my memory. I remember well that you did more harm than good.
As to his list of “false” charges: Mr. Stetson seems to have forgotten that he had to repay some of the Hawaii trip money. He uses semantics to refute two of the claims: “Lee Stetson is somehow SOLELY responsible…; Lee Stetson is PERSONALLY responsible…” Mr. Stetson, I’m sure we can find some other people to blame as well, but your fingerprints were all over the poor negotiations with our county workers. Thanks to you, (and others I’m sure) we lost too many deputies. Our county was left too thinly protected. Our waste facility came in way over budget, and accomplished far less than what we were promised. Sure, some other people worked on it too, but it was, however, SOLELY and PERSONALLY your job to be sure that our District 1 taxes were properly managed.
Mr. Stetson, Brad Aborn has been a wonderful supervisor; he’s caring, committed, and an excellent communicator. Any eight year District 1 resident with a memory will not be dazzled with your spendthrift campaign. They’ll vote for Brad, no matter what you try to conjure up.
