July 22, 2016 - The Mariposa County June 2016 unemployment rate of 5.8% is .1% higher than June 2015 when the rate was 5.7%. 
         
During June 2016, 510 residents were unemployed. A rise of 2.0% from June 2015 when 500 residents were unemployed. 
       
The Leisure and Hospitality industry with 2,530 workers during June 2016 employed 290 additional workers (12.9%) from May 2016. Compared to June 2015 the Leisure and Hospitality industry employed 20 additional workers (.8%) when the industry employed 2,510 workers. 
       
The Government employed 2.8% additional workers during June 2016 (2,180) than in June 2015 when 2,120 people were employed in Government jobs.
     
June 2016 Mining and Logging employment (30 employees) increased 0% over June 2015 (30 employees). 
       
Construction employment in June 2016 increased 6.3% (170 employees) from June 2015 when 160 residents were employed.
       
The Civilian Labor Force came in at 8,680 during June 2016. The Labor Force decreased by 50 residents (-.6%) from June 2015 when the Labor Force was at 8,730.
   
There were 8,180 employees in the county during June 2016, a decrease of 50 employees in the county over June 2015 when 8,230 residents were working in the county. That results in a year to year decrease of .6%.
