August 1, 2014- SACRAMENTO - On behalf of all Californians, Governor Brown and First Lady Anne Gust Brown honor Pfc. Keith M. Williams, who bravely gave his life in service to our state and nation. The Governor and First Lady extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time. 

In memorial, Governor Brown ordered that flags be flown at half-staff over the State Capitol. Pfc. Keith Williams' family will receive a letter of condolence from the Governor.

Pfc. Keith M. Williams, 19, of Visalia, CA, died July 24, in Mirugol Kalay, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, CO. Pfc. Williams was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
