May 3, 2021 - The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department reports on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at approximately 8:48 p.m., Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a 911 call of a stanislaus county sheriffs office logosubject shot several times at Martha Ave and 7th St. in unincorporated Keyes.

The teenaged juvenile victim was found unresponsive in the middle of the roadway. Emergency first responders attempted life-saving measures, however the victim succumbed to his injuries and died on-scene.

Witness statements indicated several people were eating near taco trucks in the area when a fight broke out.  Preliminary investigative findings suggest the victim was an unintended victim unfortunately struck by gunfire.  A silver car was seen fleeing the area and is believed to be involved in the homicide.

Crimes Against Persons detectives responded to the crime scene and took over the ongoing investigation from patrol.  We have persons of interest but no definitive suspect identified at this early stage. We are hoping an eyewitness will come forward and share additional information.  Detective Hickman is lead investigator and can be reached by calling 209-525-7042.
