May 3, 2021 - Merced – The Merced Police Department reports on May 3, 2021 at approximately 1:37 A.M. Officer Calcagno made a traffic stop on a black Audi near W. 16th Street and M Street for a lighting violation. While making contact with the driver, David Baker, 25, Officer Calcagno noticed a catalytic converter sitting on the back seat. During a search of the car, tools consistent with catalytic converter theft were located as well. Mr. Baker eventually admitted to the theft. He was arrested for Grand theft.

Mee Xiong,34, a passenger in the vehicle, was also arrested for giving false information to a peace officer, and drug possession.
