February 25, 2023 - Orange County Sheriff's Department officials report that deputies with the Highway Interdiction Team (HIT) on February 8 intercepted the attempted trafficking of narcotics on the 5 Freeway, including 172,000 fentanyl pills, 10 pounds of fentanyl powder and 20 pounds of methamphetamine. The narcotics were found concealed in a spare tire stored in the vehicle.

HIT is a specialized team tasked with disrupting and dismantling drug trafficking organizations’ transportation of illegal narcotics into and through Orange County. Every year, the team makes dozens of narcotics seizures, pulling these dangerous substances off the streets and out of our communities.
