April 4, 2023 - Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials reported an update on armed robbery.

On April 3, 2023, the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station’s Robbery Burglary Suppression Team (RBST) responded and assumed the riverside county sheriff logoinvestigation. The suspect in the armed robbery was identified as Richard Harris, a 31-year-old resident of Riverside. About 10:30 A.M., RBST located the vehicle involved in the robbery in the area of Heacock Street and Fir Avenue, Moreno Valley. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and Harris was taken into custody without incident. Evidence related to the robbery was located inside the vehicle and an unregistered firearm, as well as ammunition, was also recovered. Harris was later booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for robbery, multiple firearms violations, and three felony warrants.

Original report: On April 3, 2023, about 7:51 A.M., deputies from the Riverside Sheriff’s Moreno Valley Station responded to an armed robbery at the intersection of Perris Boulevard and Filaree Avenue. The suspect, armed with a handgun, approached the victim as he was walking from a convenience store and demanded his property. The suspect fled the area in a Silver Chevrolet Malibu, occupied with a female passenger on Perris Boulevard towards Gentian Avenue. The victim was not injured.

Deputies are actively investigating the robbery and no additional information is available at this time.
