April 9, 2023 – Los Angeles Police Department officials report an update on a March 26th attempted murder/carjacking.
LAPD Pursuit Update: On April 7, 2023, around 12:12 p.m., Southeast officers initiated a pursuit of a wanted suspect in connection to an attempted murder/carjacking that occurred on March 26, 2023, in the area of 101st Street & San Pedro Street.
The pursuit traveled through multiple cities within L.A. County, eventually ending in the City of Carson at Vermont Avenue and Belson Street.
During the pursuit, a puppy was placed in a designer bag (photo) and then tossed from the suspect's moving vehicle. Miraculously the dog emerged unharmed and was rescued by responding LAPD officers. The puppy is now in the care of South L.A. Animal Services, where it is presently being held pending an investigation into the abandonment concern that was noted during the pursuit.
The LAPD arrested three individuals in connection to this pursuit. They have been identified as:
Suspect 1 - Gustavo Alvarez, a 27-year-old male Hispanic from Los Angeles, CA, was arrested for an attempted murder/carjacking that occurred on March 26, 2023, in the area of 101st Street & San Pedro Street. He was booked (#6582509) for 187(A)PC-Attempt Murder and is being held without bail.
Suspect 2 - Lynette Moreno, a 27-year-old female, Hispanic from Los Angeles, CA. She was arrested for setting up the 2nd getaway vehicle and booked (#6582482) for 32PC-Accessory/Evading. Bail has been set at $67,500.00.
Suspect 3 - Michelle Zamudio, a 25-year-old female Hispanic from Santa Monica, CA. She was the driver of the 2nd getaway vehicle and was booked (#6582516) for 2800.2(A)VC-Evading. Bail has been set at $75,000.00.
This investigation is ongoing.
