April 17, 2023 - San Diego County Sheriff Department officials report that deputies with the San Diego County Sheriff's Department are san diego county sheriff department logoinvestigating a shooting in Jamul. Jamul is an unincorporated area in the eastern region of San Diego County.

It happened on Monday, March 27 at a house in the 2600 block of Bratton Valley Road just before midnight. There was a verbal argument about guests in the house being asked to leave. Five people got into a car and as they were driving away, shots were fired. The car was hit, but no one was hurt.

The incident was reported to the Rancho San Diego Sheriff's Station and Rural Command the next day, March 28.

As part of the investigation, on Thursday April 13, a search warrant was served at the house in Jamul where the incident occurred.  Michael Anthony Williams (DOB: 6/26/2004) was arrested on several counts of assault with a deadly weapon. He was released on $50,000 bail on Friday, April 14 just after midnight. He is expected to appear in an El Cajon Courtroom on Thursday, April 20 at 8:00 a.m.

Three of the passengers in the car were minors. It is the policy of the Sheriff's Department not to release identifying information about minor victims. This is all the information that can be released at this time as the investigation continues, including interviewing additional witnesses.

There have been media inquiries regarding the booking photo of Michael Williams. It is the policy of the San Diego County Sheriff's Department to only release booking photos when there is an immediate threat to public safety. Booking photographs are exempt from release pursuant to Government Code section 7923.600.
