April 20, 2023 - Los Angeles County District Attorney officials report District Attorney George Gascón announced on Wednesday that Jamal Jackson was charged yesterday with murdering a man george gasconand attempting to kill several other men in Northridge over the weekend.

“This callous act of violence against a group of individuals showed a total disregard for human life,” District Attorney Gascón said. “Juan Lopez-Suarez’s death is tragic and senseless. My heart goes out to the victims and their families who are dealing this tragedy. My office will hold Mr. Jackson accountable for his brutal actions.”

Jamal Jackson,24, was charged in case PA099879 with one count of murder, four counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of firearm by a felon. He also faces special allegations of personally using a handgun and personally inflicting great bodily injury.

Jackson appeared in court yesterday, however, his arraignment was continued until May 23 in Department S of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, San Fernando Branch. He is being held on no bail.

On April 15, Jackson is accused of killing Juan Lopez-Suarez and injuring several others outside of a building in the 1900 block of Parthenia Street.

Jackson was allegedly seen on video surveillance cameras painting graffiti on the building, hours before the shooting. The group was gathered near this graffiti when Jackson allegedly began firing.

The case was investigated by Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Bureau Homicide.
