April 26, 2023 - Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on April 25, 2023, at 3:28 P.M., deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of a riverside county sheriff logostabbing near a business in the 12600 block of Frederick Street, in the City of Moreno Valley. Upon arrival, deputies located a 22-year-old male suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. The victim was working as a security officer when he attempted to stop a suspect identified as Davion Stewart, a 31-year-old resident of Moreno Valley, for stealing shoes from the business. While trying to detain Stewart, a struggle ensued and the victim was stabbed with a knife. The victim was able to pepper spray Stewart in the face before he left the location on his bicycle. The victim was transported to a local hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Deputies searched the immediate area and located Stewart in the 12800 block of Frederick Street. Stewart was taken into custody and he denied medical treatment for the pepper spray. Stewart was booked at the Robert Presley Detention Center for robbery and assault with a deadly weapon.

Anyone with information on this case is encouraged to contact Deputy Florea at the Moreno Valley Sheriff’s Station by calling (951) 486-6700.
