May 6, 2023 - Riverside County Sheriff's Office officials report that on May 4, 2023, about 5:45 p.m., deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff’s Station responded to riverside county sheriff logoa vehicle vs. pedestrian collision in the 74000 block of Alessandro Drive. Upon arrival, deputies observed a pedestrian with life threatening injuries and attempted to render aid. The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries. The driver of the vehicle was cooperative and remained at the scene.

The Palm Desert Traffic Team was called to the scene and assumed the investigation. Based on the preliminary evidence, it appears the pedestrian was attempting walk southbound across Alessandro Drive when they were struck by the vehicle. Alcohol or drug impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification to their family.
The traffic collision investigation required the temporary closure of Alessandro Drive. The roadway has been reopened.
