June 6, 2023 - Kern County Sheriff's Office officials report that on June 5, 2023, at about 12:30 a.m., Kern County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 200 block of Decatur Street in Bakersfield, CA for a report of a shooting. When deputies arrived, they located an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased on scene.

Upon investigation, it was determined that a possible suspect possibly fled upstairs. A SWAT callout was initiated. The residence was cleared. Homicide detectives arrived on scene. The investigation is active and ongoing.
