August 1, 2023 - Kern County Sheriff's Office officials report that on July 21, 2023, The Kern County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Unit's China Lake Mountain Rescue Group assisted the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office with a Search and Rescue Mutual Aid for a missing 52-year-old hiker in the Monrovia Canyon Area.

The subject went missing on July 15, 2023. The Kern County Sheriff's Office China Lake Mountain Rescue Group sent 4 searchers to LA County to assist with the search.
