Fatal Collision in San Marcos 

January 19, 2024 - San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials report that on January 18, 2024, at 4:32 a.m., deputies responded to a report of a vehicle collision at the intersection of East Mission Road and Mulberry Drive.  

A 59-year-old Hispanic male was crossing the west crosswalk, across East Mission Road, when a silver Dodge Ram truck struck the male.  The truck was driven by a 61-year-old male who was heading eastbound on East Mission Road when the collision occurred. The driver of a Dodge Ram stopped his truck and called 911 for help. 

The San Marcos Fire Department Paramedics performed life-saving measures on the pedestrian, but he succumbed to his injuries before he could be transported to the hospital. 

The Medical Examiner's office responded to the scene. They will determine the cause of death, identify the male, and notify his family.
